they might make you pay back taxes.
Not only that, but bringing this to the attention of the IRS might result in them taking action against whatever employer was paying you off the books/under the table. I'm really not sure what you should do in this case.

UPDATE: Problem solved. Prior to working that off the books, i worked in another job that paid me through check but only a month though.. i got a tax return file on that but since its so little i dont have to file. I gave that to my BI today and i told him the work that i did, the one i wrote int he booklet, was only for experience and i did not get paid. Then he said ah ok dont worry about it

oooo, that's a tough one because they can take up to a year to make their decision. Did the psych of the NYPD get your paper work yet?

I talked about this on another thread a few months ago but I wanted to reiterate it because I think it is important.
In this case, yea its just a BS job that you had for a few weeks and it was easier to just ignore it/pretend it didnt happen than deal with it.
I think you were smart to disclose that, and anything else you felt like you needed to disclose.
Remember integrity and honesty when you are applying for this job. Its important and although it doesn't seem like the NYPD will catch stupid things like this, you never know. If you work 19 years and they somehow find out that you lied on your applciation or background you can get FIRED. You lose your pension and everything you worked for. Is it unlikely? Yes. Is it possible? Yes.
I'd rather be honest, get the job, keep my integrity, and never have to look over my shoulder.
I sincerely believe that we are nothing without our integrity. Lose that and you are just another guy. That being said, end of advice, good luck with the rest of the process.

My friend just told me about a guy who was asked to resigned while in the academy, because the guys BI found out about a fight that he had 4years ago, the police were called and everything but the guy never reported it on his background. THAT SUCKS.

Right?
If you feel the need to "confess" issues about your background (or anything else) find a priest and don't post it online in a public forum. Or do...

i think that's a little different then the off the books case. It is true abuot getting fired by one minor thing lying by either committing a crime or lying about yuor GPA by .1 Pt lying is lying in there eyes and they could use it against u. My neighbors who are both retired NCPD HW and NYPD HW told me that retire when you get the chance.
