Suffolk County Police internal issues ?

Whats going on with the SCPD? It seems that Emperor Levy and his lackey Dormer are out to destroy the department and its reputation.

First they get rid of the highway patrol and now I read on the Schwartz Report (yes I know not the most accurate source in the world) that the marine unit, aviation unit, pistol licensing, and background investigation are next in line to be cut with some assets being outsourced to the State Police and "other lower paid local agencies" (read: Suffolk County Sheriff's Office) and others being "privatized".

Please tell me that some idiot on SR is spinning a rumor. Levy cant possibly be this stupid as to create that big of a public safety hazard by getting rid of whole swaths of the department. I know the SCSO has alot of the same specialized units but thats mainly only to assist the East End cops and not enough to cover the whole county (ex. they only have 4 K9 dogs as opposed to 20 or so in the SCPD, 2 boats as opposed to like 6, etc) I used to be a big supporter of Emperor Levy but now im beginning to reconsider.

not official yet, but they're thinking about turning over the L.I.E and Sunrise and so on to NYSP. I wouldn't mind since I want to become a trooper.

The only thing that I heard from 2 people on the inside was a class late 2009.The range they might call for that class would be 97.5 and above.
Im going to try and think positive as anything can change with suffolk county in 1 day. My fingers are crossed that they get to the 95s with a possible 2nd class before the list expires.

As for the Hwy Patrol division; they are supposed to be gradually scaling back starting sometime this month with the full transition of the NYSP taking over the LIE and Sunrise by September or so.

No way they could disband aviation. The medivac alone is a huge void to fill.

Dont bet your life.... they could easily move to privatize the Medical missions and allow them to charge for transport. Therre is a BIG push in Maryland to do that and take it away from the MSP Troopers... Probably will not happen

It is privatized upstate NY already with Guthrie and Mercy Flight flying most of the medevac runs. If there is a huge problem and no one is around the state troopers occasionally come in and fly, but I honestly never saw that.

Suffolk Highway not the nicest guys in the world. The NY State Troopers are much more professional.

You wouldnt be either if everyday you stop about 20+ NYPD cops flying back and forth to work on the LIE...lol
