NYPD Test Mid June

Hey everyone. I am new here. I am taking the NYPD test June 22, 2008. I have a few questions if anyone can help me out. I have been lurking on these boards for a few months and couldn't find answers to my questions. Thank you everyone for your anticipated support.

- I live in Jersey, is the Background Investigator going to come to my residence. (just curious, nothing to hide)
_ If I decide to move to Staten Island and get hired by NYPD, what is the probability of me getting assigned to where I live?
- Is 30 to old to join NYPD I mean how many 30 year olds take the test and get hired ? I am tired of waiting around for Jersey so I decided to branch out elsewhere and take tests.
- How intense is the BI? I have been through a few and some where so anally retentive that they scrutinized everything. LOL.

Any advice anyone can give me is much appreciated.

Yes, the BI will most likely come to your neighborhood.
First 6 months expect to be placed in impact areas, which is predominately the not so great neighborhoods. You can request for placement via the dream sheet, but take it as it is; a dream sheet. And here's a rule of thumb, "Don't **** where you eat."
No, you're not too old to join NYPD, cut-off age is 35.
BI is there to help you for the most part, worry more about the psych.

If you live in Jersey it is hit or miss on the investigator coming to your place, but I would say most likely NOT. The main point of the home visit is to go to your neighbors and make sure you live where you say you live. The NYPD doesn't care that you live in NJ so they don't really need to verify that. Once you notify them you moved to SI though, expect the home visit prety quickly. My stuff was still in boxes the morning a Sgt. showed up at my door.

For going to patrol SI, the last class sent exactly 0 officers to Staten Island. This July, I would assume some people are going to be sent there with the huge uptick in crime reported since january.
