I took the MTA police exam probably the same time as this one back in 2002-2003. I got the results back within 6 months. They were pretty quick.

I could swear I just saw you use "6 months" and "quick" in the same thought...only in NY.

No news yet, beleive it or not, the MTA used the same company as NYSP for the grading of the test and I'm pretty sure other organziation uses the same company, so it might take a while (first come first serve?).

Anyways, so the last class for the MTAPD for the last test that was held in 04will be 50 canadates. Usually the MTA sends about 10 or less into NYPD acadamy, but for some odd reason they're sending 50 this coming July.
Good Luck to those who were choosen.

As a Police Recruiter in NC. I am amazed to read New York postings. NC has an large number of open LE positions. Most agencies have open job postings.

As an example, my agency's goal is to process an application upon receipt within 12 weeks. The successful applicant is given a reporting date base on their "applicant employment availability date" not the academy class date. Therefore we have pre-hired applicants on payroll for our next academy which begins 14 July.

Then our next academy is 22 Oct, followed by 14 Jan 2009.

Sounds like a pretty good way to do it :) An added benefit of your department is that your officers can live decently on your current base pay scale of $33,150 - $56,805 (after 13 years). If I wasn't fixated on the North East I would probably be heading to Fayetteville.

I will probably be taking the SFPD test in June, depending how things turn out w/ some of the local agencies. They have a very convenient set-up for their process and their pay scale is also quite nice. Not to mention I enjoy the Bay area and would not mind moving back to Northern CA or even SoCal. We shall see what happens.

I'm looking at a few Florida departments, as well as the San Diego PD and LAPD, if things don't work out for me in the tri-state area.

EDIT: I'm also waiting on the MTA results.

SDPD & SDSO look very appealing. I will probably fly out there next month test for SDPD. That area is beautiful, along with the women there :D

Absolutely! Which do you think is the better gig?

you also have to remember that policing out west is completely different than policing here in the East and moving to San Diego the cost of living is about the same as here in the southern part of NY-Westchester down to Long Island. I want to fly out and apply to LVMPD

I have been dong a good deal of research and while more people seem to say that SDSO is better on some levels, it seems as it will depend on what you are looking for. From what people say, SDPD is trying to hire a great deal of officers. So they may be a tad easier to get on with and they claim that their process only takes 3-4 months. I will probably end up testing with SDPD 1st if/when I go next month. (their testing schedule is much easier to work with, while still maintaining my job out here) As John said, it is different out there and it is pricey. However, if you are ok with those facts, all the other positives should outweigh the negatives. :D

Ok so I've got a question then. I heard that the MTA uses the same company that the NYSP used for testing and the NYSP just updated thier website saying that the scores will be delayed for some time, so does that mean that the MTA will also have a long delay in thier scores as well?

Mastersly86

I just checked the MTA Police website and it just updated and said they should forwarding the scores in a few weeks...Then again the NYSP site changed their date a couple of times.. One can only hope
