View Full Version : I Resigned

The text of my resignation.
"I hereby submit to the village council my resignation.
"I have a rule that I live by: When work becomes something to dread instead of something to look forward to each day, it is time to move on.
"For several months I have been under investigation by a member of the village council who has secretly enlisted an employee to report my activities. Evidently they have begun a paper trail of any impropriety or anything thaty can be construed as such on my part. This is being done without formal charges or my being informed. This has created an unbearable work environment.
"Moreover, and perhaps more importantly, political pressures and public condemnation for taking appropriate actions toward public safety have begun to threaten my impartiality in the performance of my duties. This is intolerable. I took an oath to uphold the laws of the state and the ordinances of the village. I cannot allow my determination to that end be swayed by politics or economics, by public embarrassment, or by fear of reprisal.
"I apologize to my supporters for this abrupt announcement and any turbulance it may cause. I'm sure you understand."

Send me the address of that city council of yours and I'll give them a good piece of my mind.
Small town politics are the worst. All you need are a few petty people who go mad when they get a little power and they ruin it for the rest.
What a shame. http://www.officer.com/ubb/frown.gif http://www.officer.com/ubb/frown.gif

Sorry to hear this Chris. I don't know you all that well aside from our little rants http://www.officer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif but it seems they are losing out on a dedicated professional.
Good luck in your future endeavors.

Yesterday we had an Officer resign out of the blue. He came into Headquarters with a box full of gear, marched up to the Chief's office and said, "I've had enough of the bulls**t here...enough of the politics already".
We all smiled real big inside because he stayed true to his belief.
I salute you for standing up for what you believe in and hope things work out for the best.

Chris,
I saw you mention this in a General Topics thread. What a shock.
I wish you good luck and God speed in all your endeavors. I'm sorry that your departure was due to such circumstances, but I salute your integrity. If your "other irons" don't include LE, than more's the pity. The thin blue line becomes thinner still. Whatever you do and whereever you go, don't forget your friends here.
