Does anyone know what month the next academy will be starting? Is there a settled contract yet?

Is there anyone out there? I have to hand in my booklet along with directions to my house by the 5th of May. The NYPD police is like 5 or 6 steps to academy. Anyone know how many steps it takes to get to the academy for the County Corrections? I'm not to aware of how often this opportunity comes around. Was I lucky for applying when I did. Is it like the County Police and like every 4 years or so? Thank yoouu, thank you very muchh.

I was called in for Photographing, fingerprinting, urine test and some light paperwork. I received a envelope with a booklet to fill out asking where employed, school history, life addresses, etc. about two weeks ago. It felt good and right. I thought they would never call. It took about a full year to hear from them. It may very well be worth it. It would be pretty close to were I live. Its supposed to be a good job with good people. I hope it to be true. I was not trilled with some of the other guys that were there with me. It looked like they should have been the ones being watched. I hope that stuff will be weeded out. I want to work with smart guys with a brain on their shoulder. I'm hoping the County weeds the dodo birds. One guy in my precinct said he did it for six years and it was good to him before he transfered to the County Police.

oh ok you took the test a while ago i thought u took the one at the same time as me like 2 weeks ago. I talked to a guy a little while ago and he said its been 2 years and hes just coming up on the end of his hiring process so u may have to wait a while. as far as the contract i heard a rumor that it was finally put through on another post and the max pay went up to 93,000. Im not saying this is true cause it was on a post on here and it could just be someoen saying that but i googled it and found some people who were angry about them getting a raise so im assuming they got one. but i heard that the contract puts limitations on how much overtime u can work and they are lowering how much you will make while doing overtime.

Yeah, I read the 93,000 as well somewhere. That buddy was in the process for two years or he started the process after two years. It wouldn't make much sense to bother with me now if they weren't going to hire soon. Would it? I do not know how the County works in terms of hiring. I heard last job posting there was a screw up in the ad and they printed that you needed a Master's Degree so many people did not apply. So maybe there is a shortage in prospects. I heard through talk only and no confirm that they are looking at a July class. There is very, very little information out there on this stuff. I like the tight ship. A little painful trying to find anything out. I just wish I was on the side getting paid. Yeah, I have three kids, so I wouldn't be going for all the overtime anyway. I heard it is time and 3 quarter. Again its just talk. I heard some guys really cleaned up. You can't blame them if it was worked out legally into the system to make the salary. If the higher ups had a problem with it they would have changed it or pulled the reins a little to say cool it for awhile. Though they could have hired another guy/girl for cheaper than the OT and he/she would be fresh and not overtired or overworked. Who knows, they have guy/gals to work that stuff out in those bench jobs. Can't blame them now the time was put in and it was allowed.

the guy i talked to took the test in 06 and is just now finishing the hiring process. im sure if they are sending u stuff u r going to get into an academy class soon. I also feel like this is a job that alot of people dont follow up on after a while. and like u said half the people that took the test looked like they should be behind the bars not guarding the guys behind them.

They haven't released the grades yet for this past test but I feel I did pretty well on it. I heard unline the PD they go as low as mid 70's when calling of fthe list is that true? If it is they must hire a lot of people.

Yeah they get into the 70's, but I think by the time they get called they already took another job and pass. I also think corrections is a cattle call and they send alot of people walking. If your smart, clean record and have a little height and weight I'm guessing they will take you. Not sure how many positions they are looking to fill. I'm looking now and I see your wrote PD. Not sure if they will need to go into the 70's.

Yeah I was a bit tired when I wrote the post. I meant that the PD only hits the 80's when hiring off the list. Corrections doesnt seem like a bad gig but only if your up to being in a jail for 20 years. I would take it if I wasn't able to get a PD job.

I'm aged out of the PD except for the NYPD which I took before I aged out. Either would be my second career for me.
