For anyone currently going through the FBI hiring process...
Could any of you post your critical skills and/or backgrounds? What seems to be most attractive to the recruiters currently?
Also, I have read on this and other forums that they are having a hard time getting IT applicants that can pass the PFT; if this is true, could anyone speculate as to why they have not relaxed the (critical skill) requirements? Obtaining a CCNP certification is no short term endeavor! Why not a security or forensic computing certification instead, since that is what the mission actually pertains to?
Anyway, thanks to anyone who can help me out...

I heard from someone that works there in a support role but is trying to switch over to a 1811 that they are really pushing for the critical languages right now and all the other critical skills are on the backburner. This may not necessarily be credible so take it for what it's worth.
IMO, do not chase the current "hot" skill. If they are doing mad hiring of skill "X" right now, and you spend a few years acquiring that skill just to get into the FBI you may find that while you were working on that skill they did tons of recruiting/hiring and it's no longer the "hot" one to have.
Do things that you truly have an interest in, and will serve as a backup if you never get into the FBI or any other LE job.
Also, since you haven't actually worked investigations for the FBI how are you qualified to determine which IT skills are relevant to the mission? Be careful with that attitude, especially if you are interacting with people who actually know and work the mission of the agency, and may have a say in who gets hired. ;)
Good luck.

I applied in Oct 07, shortly thereafter the processing of applicants with certain critical skills was suspended. It says on the website that processing for other skill areas will begin in the spring of 08 but as of today I don't think that has changed. I have military and LE experience, has anyone with these critical skills been given a phase 1 invite lately?

Where on the website is it ranking the critical skills? I just see where they are listed, are they listed in the order they deem most critical?

I/T, Language and Tactical skills are currently the top three, or at least the ones being considered when processing apps right now

So is knowing Spanish good enough for the language skill or does it need to be Arabic or another language?

SA,
Got friends at the Bureau who are as mystified as me as to why CCNP certification is the chosen one...not alot of Special Agents investigating network topology...
