Ft. Lauderdale Police?

I just took my CJBAT and Agility/Swim test and did well on all of them (90 on the written). I have a B.A. and will have my Masters in one month. NO convictions, driving record, or skeletons in my closet.

Does anyone have experience with the FLPD? and if so, what is the usual amount of time between when you send in an application and they begin to contact you for possible employment?

I tried for BSO, but because I stupidly took a puff of marijuana sitting around a camp fire in Oct 2007 (first or three times ever having smoked, and first since 2003) they disqualified me for substance abuse. I even called the recruiter to try and explain and they said it didnt matter, and to repply come december.

Any other decent agencies worth applying to around that area?

Your last marijuana use is too close to be applying right now, don't you think?

Good luck getting hired with drug use less than a year ago. :eek: Might as well save a tree and not apply anywhere for a few years!

I know, i know. It was one hit, and one hit only. Made a mistake, so be it. Maybe my resume, education, and remaining background can get me to the next step. Or maybe not. Good thing Ill have a Masters degree to fall back on!

You know I hate to beat a dead horse, but these guys are right. No one will touch you with the drug usage in such a short time. I would honestly say, wait for at least two years, no agency will touch you. And I think two years is cutting it close, but hey you could try for small agency like Lauderhill, they take anyone.
