Ok, so I was helping wifey clean the house yesterday when something flew out of the closet and hit her in the head... I go to run to her to make sure she is ok and I kick the corner of the wall full force!
Kicked it so hard it tore off my pinky toe nail and took some of the plaster off with it.
Turns out I did not break the actual toe but did recieve a "Traumatic fracture" to the 5th metetarsil on my right foot.
So, already being on light duty for a back injury, they extend it for 5 more weeks!!!! I am telling you, I am going to go absolutely crazy!!!!!
So, has anyone broken anything like this? And if so, how long did it take you to heal?? :(

Did you have it in an Ace bandage? I have "severely" sprained my ankles, my knee and have jammed at least every finger playing basketball. But much like CityCopDC I have never broken anything. (knock on wood)
Hope you have a fast recovery and try to relax, unfortunately that is about all the advice I have. Good luck

I had taped my toe to another toe because I figured I probably busted it up, I didnt anticipate the other bone being broken. Couldn't walk without a shoe. This morning was great, I'm in the shower, wifey is like uh why are you wearing crocs in the shower lol.
Should be ok now though. Already have smart comments on the cast from my co workers lol

Had the same thing happen, but while playing football in high school.
It was the sole reason I was denied entry into the Marine Corps' Officer Candidate School 6 years later.
It doesn't affect me one stinking bit.... but they said it was a liability (which it's not) and that if I wished to still get in, I could pay for the surgery to get it "fixed", but that there were no guarantees..... so I walked away.

Never broke a bone either. I slamed my pinky toe on the side of my bed after going #1, crappy wake up call. The next few days it was purple and lost the nail. It'll hurt to walk the 1st few day. Don't put on shoes walk around in sandals.

Well look at it this way, you can watch all the Red Sox games now. And your wife will bring you food/beer all you want.
Geezz... what people do to get out of cleaning the house.

Like a couple others on here, never broken anything. I've had a concussion, not sure if that counts.

I broke a bone in my foot running to catch a flight connection. The hook on my suitcase caught the cuff of my boot and I took a slider!
I did catch my flight though! :D
I broke and dislocated a finger trying to stop a box of children from tipping over.

Yup.
I was all squared away to go through the academy two years ago--signed on the dotted line, fingerprints, payment, etc.
I was jogging in order to get into shape for the "1.5" and came down wrong on a big freakin rock that rolled under my foot after a car had passed. Broke the 5th metatarsal and couldn't go through the academy.
I was out of commission for about 10 weeks! Man did that hurt.

Where do you get a box of children? Are they cheaper if you buy in bulk? :)

Sounds painful, I've broken 3 of my toes, all at different times. One time I droped a 50 pound weight on one, and the other two I have run into walls. I went to the doctor the first time and he just said "yeah its broke" so for the other two I didnt go see a doctor, never missed a days work thou.

Maybe she's talking about the glorious Green Bay Packers. :D
And to the OP... that sucks about your foot. :(
Thankfully, I've never broken a bone. There's a couple times I should have... but got lucky.

i broke both pinky fingers playing basketball in highschool, same game... nothing on the job thankfully knock on wood...doc splinted them, took a few weeks. broke the same metatarsil as you about 4 years ago, doc said no cast but put me in a this godawful boot and took a really long time to heal ,almost 4 months for me and it bothered me for probobly a year after. my partner broke the same bone last year hitting the bottom post of his bed but it only took him half the time to recover...i guess just be careful with it, good luck...

Where do you get a box of children from? Maybe I can buy one and give it to my wife so she shuts up! (Have been trying to have a mini SoxFan).
And yes she is ok. It was a book that slid off a shelf and popped her in the nose.
