How much time are you given for the entry exam and how many questions are there about? Also, on the math questions, you are not allowed to use a calculator correct?

well i assumed they are mostly the same, with the few departments around sacramento? in June roseville PD is going to have one. Im still yet to find out more info from sac PD, but i doubt that information about how many questions and if calculators are allowed will be found on the site. I thought maybe someone here would have an idea or actually know. ill look through sac site to see what i can did up

Actually, the written exam can very greatly both in content and difficulty from department to department.
This is true.
In my lifetime I've tested for the LAPD, the Colorado Department of Corrections (sucessfully employed for five years), the Denver Sheriff's Department (polygraph this may), The Denver Police, The Denver Public Safety Cadet Program (hardest test I've ever taken, bar none) and the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department (for both Deputy and Detention Deputy).
No two tests were alike. All had reading comprehension, most had math, one had some wicked logic questions and some had a butt-load of psych-type questions.
None of them had questions that required previous knowledge of law enforcement.

So true. I've taken five tests since the beginning of the year. Each one was different.

One was POST, which means it was most English (grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary). All of them had these writing skills. Two had math. One had touchy-feel-ly questions (called "bio-data"). Two had memorization components. Three had map reading. One had lists of numbers (addresses, VINs, phone numbers, etc.), and you had to identify how many of the numbers were the same. No extra points if you hummed the "Sesame Street" song for "one of these things is not like the others." :D

i would be curious to see if there is anyone here that is employed with Sac PD or atleast have taken their entry exam. I will be stopping by their office soon to see when they have their next job fair or orientation so i can get more inside info. Also at the same time dropping off my ride along app.
