I am posting to get some information on Railroad Police Officers.

I have read that certain powers are granted to Railroad Police Officers depending on a state to state basis. Some powers might be commissioned by the Governors office or through the a Sheriff’s Department. Does anyone have any information on how this works? How does this work for States Like IL or IN?
How does being commissioned work for Departments like BNSF Metra, or CSX?

Some other questions that I have are…..

Does A Railroad Police Officer have the authority to enforce laws on and off Rail Road Property in which they Patrol?

Can Railroad Police carry a Firearm Off duty? (Can BNSF, Metra, or CSX carry a Firearms Off Duty?)

Does The Law Enforcement Safety Act (HR 218) apply to Railroad Police if they are granted Police Powers by Statute or Commissioned through the Governor or the Sheriff‘s Department?

If there is any Railroad Police or anyone that has information on any of the topics it would be greatly appreciated. Any other information related to Railroad Police would helpful to.

Thanks.
