This post is for any of you Leos who work in the I.E. or have had experienced there. I have read some of the other post about the area and how S.B. is a powder keg, Fontana is the best in the area and so forth. My question is about the actual agencies themselves. What makes S.B.P.D so bad, why is the moral low? What is it about F.P.D. that makes it one of the best in the area? Any good unbiased information would be greatly appreciated.

I've done some follow up investigations in San Bernardino and the only comparison I can make is that of an LA ghetto (I was born and raised in LA). I cannot comment on the actual officers and their morale because I've not met enough of them to get a good idea of what they go through.

I've had classes with and have conducted operations with Fontana PD and they all seemed extremely squared away and content with their jobs. They deal with some knuckleheads also but I got the impression they enjoy their jobs more than the San Bernardino guys.

First rule of fight club is we don't talk about fight club. Are you considering coming down here? Fontana is a good place to work because you are still allowed to do your job and be a cop. You are not bogged down with alot of the bs that other places have. It's an aggressive department that has the support of administration and for the most part, the community. Good tax base, which means good equipment and close to the top pay for the area. Good benefits too. If you have any Q's, you can PM.

Yes I plan on applying once I transition out of the military at the end of this summer. I'm originally from the area so I remember how chaotic it could be. I heard that S.B.P.D. does 4/10 and Rialto does 3/12 with a make up day but I couldn't find Fontana's, could you clear that up for me and which do you prefer?

Fontana does 3 12.5's and once a month we do a 10 hour payback. It's great and I feel like a fireman with all these days off.

I don't know the exact number off hand, but right at $6,000, plus retirement and health is 100% city paid. I made more at my last department but had to pay $300 per month towards medical and 9% ($500+) towards my retirement. Gotta look at the whole picture.

That's a bunch more than I make. And they have a retirement, where I don't. I'll have to work until I'm dead.
