I applied to Cheyenne PD and will test in June. What is their department like? Also pay scale if anyone knows?
Thanks.

I believe they start out around 4200 a month, but could be more. I know they just received another 11% pay increase.
They have quite a few new faces lately with the pay increase. They have the take home car policy, so thats a benefit. As with any agency, some politics, but thats a norm, LOL!
Ohhh, they are on the Windfall retirement program, so they will have you waive social security, thats a negative.
I know quite a few of them on the work level, and a couple on the personal level. They have some pretty neat people working there! Its not a bad gig!

Good luck! Hey, make sure to make the run! Once you complete the PT test, the rest does go real fast. They do not waste time getting people through the process. The last one I dealt with going through the hiring process took about 3 weeks.

Thanks. I tested in January but failed the run by 20 seconds. I hadn't been running and was out of shape. I have been running a lot for about 5 weeks now and going ot the gym. I feel a lot more confident this time and I also know the enrironment. That gym at LCCC is hot and dry, my lungs felt like leather, lol.

Ohh god.. that gym! I hated it with a passion! The academy has the same kind of set-up, just a little bit bigger, and they test on it too!
If it happens to be warm out and during a non school day, you may luck out, and get to test out at the Central High School outdoor track, or indoor (which is bigger and cooler). The LCCC gym is the worse place they can test. As for the out door track, its 6 laps for the 1.5.. Hope that helps!

Great, According to their website the test in june will be at Central HS, Sweet!!! I have been running on the high school track just behind our house, that should work out nicely!

Yeah, it is a very nice track too! Very comfortable now that they use that rubber compound (soft on the feet). Just stay on I-25 as you come up north. Get off at Exit 11.
Turn right.
Next set of stop lights, turn Left.
Immediately after turning left, you will see a Conoco gas station, with a frontage road in front. Turn left onto the frontage road.
You will pass up a Comfort Inn and a Storage Unit. Keep on that road.
You will start to come down a hill, parking lot at the school on the right.
Park there!

I just moved out of Cheyenne. I have a friend or two in the Cheyenne PD and LCSD.
I had thought about applying with Cheyenne PD when I applied with the BP. I still dont regret going with the BP though, the work is a lot of fun (if chasing people through the desert in the middle of the night is your thing)

Do you happen to know how many openings they have?
(My husband will be testing in June, too!)

Sorry so late, the site was down last night. We came up this afternoon. How did you do? I passed the run with 12:26, which makes me so happy. Next stop is the oral boards tomorrow.

I heard today the PD may be doing their own academy in Cheyenne instead of the WLEA in Douglas. Has anyone heard anything?, maybe it's all scuttlebutt?

Does anyone know when the next testing is? What are the PT standards?

Probably not for a while. They just did one last week. PT standards are on page 2 of the application here http://wy-cheyenne.civicplus.com/DocumentView.asp?DID=933

Ack! Bomber, I didn't see this! I'm sorry!
We drove in from Northern LA with a 5 yr old with ADHD and a 2 yr old Diva. It was a 18-19 hr drive not including the 5 million "mom! I gotta pee!" stops and NOT FUN. So we've decided we are going to find somewhere just a little bit closer, lol DH didn't even show up for testing :o We had a great vacation, though! ;)
Good luck to you!! How is everything going?!

I can understand that, haha. Everything is going great! I am hoping to hear something in the next few weeks. I'm really excited to get hired.
