Anyone know about the Physical Abilities Test with Oakland. When i got through with the written, the gave me a schedule of practice PAT tests, but I live far enough away that I would rather not spend the money on gasoline just to attend a 20 min. example of how to complete the test.
If anyone could just tell me whats involved, it would be great. I am pretty physically fit and am not worried, just curious.
Thanks

It's an indoor obstacle course which includes running around cones, a 6' wall climb, a simulated window you wedge through, a dummy drag, a couple other small hurdles all followed by a torsion bar you compress to simulate handcuffing. You have 2min 32 seconds to complete the obstacle course portion and then move to the torsion bar that takes 30 seconds. You wear a weight belt and start from a seating position in a patrol car.

Q: How should I be preparing for the Physical Ability Test?
A: Applicants should begin physically preparing well in advance of the test and should also be training with the goal of eventually attending the Police Academy. Physical activities such as running, pushups, pull-ups, and sit-ups should be incorporated into your physical training. A good core fitness level is more likely to ensure success during the Agility Test. Basic fitness goals for the start of the academy are:
Run 1.5 miles in about 14.36 minutes
Complete 28 pushups without resting
Complete 35 sit-ups in one minute
Q: When will I get the results of my Physical Ability Test?
A: You should know immediately how well you performed on the Physical Ability Test.

Hi OPD how do you like working there? The benefits seems pretty good, how is the morale, equipment, schedules, bosses ect? How difficult is it to get promoted and is it a very political department?
