I just finished watching a full season of "the academy" http://www.veoh.com/tv-shows/fox-The-Academy for the LASD looked pretty tough. Im interested in go for Sacramento PD or Roseville PD and maybe end up in Citrus Heights PD, but i have a couple questions about the academy. IS there any study materials out there to pick up, buy or download to better prepare yourself for the academy? like radio codes, booklets, law knowledge, math or what other requirements.
Another question i have is, i couldnt find an academy in sacramento for police. I found one for highway patrol. The only thing i was able to find is an academy type thing at a college, but it says its required for you to have 60 units or something, i dont get it, so they offer it through a school in sacramento, can someone fill me in on this?
one more question is a PD academy harder than SD academy and how so?

Sacramento city does offer an academy. If you apply for Sac PD, you have to have at least 60 units to apply. Sacramento Sheriff also has their own academy. I believe Roseville PD uses the Sac PD academy (I could be wrong). Citrus Heights does not send people to an academy as they only hire laterals. Both academies do take non-affiliate applications if you want to pay your own way. The school thing you were refering to was the Los Rios School District. They are the ones that give college credit to the people in any of these academies. You earn somewhere around 17-20 college units while in the academy.

You don't need to prepare for anything, trust me. It's not hard stuff, don't stress. Every department has a different way of communicating over the radio, so don't prepare for that. As for the law stuff, you will be fine, a little bit of studying everyday and paying attention in class is all you need. Spanish on the other hand.....you might want to get the basics down first.
here's all you need to prepare

what if i already know another language not being spanish, still required to learn some spanish? What about class commands or anything else in particular or will all be pretty much thought in the academy?
is the academy also a 4/10 days or a 5/8?
about the spanish....you live in California dude, what do you think?

I'm currently in the Sacramento Police Academy. Unfortunately they are on a semi-hiring freeze. The city is in financial trouble, and the department is hurting for funds. The next academy class sounds like it's going to be 6 recruits and they will have to pay there way through the academy ($3k) Roseville does go through the SacPD academy, but they have a freeze going on as well. There's only one recruit from Roseville in our academy class. I hope I didn't discourage you. I would suggest to apply as many agencies as possible, regardless of freezes, so you at least get your name on the list once they start back up.

I don't know about other departments, LAPD you learn Spanish the entire time in the academy. Knowing any other language besides english and spanish is not going to help you in the academy, however since LA is so diverse, when an officer requests a mandarin, russian, etc speaker, it comes in handy when we have officers that speak the language.
LAPD academy is a 5/8 schedule

I'm pretty sure Korean would be very helpful at LAPD.
