Second Career - LASD BI QUESTION
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First let me say that I have learned a great deal about becoming a LEO from this site. The responses from the LEOs are to the point and truthful. Thanks
Now for my questions: I am 46 years old and retired from a fortunate carrer in banking having achieved both my financial and professional targets. Retirement is not all that its cracked up to be! I have always regreted not entering LE so here I go. I passed both the LASD written and oral last month and am filling out the PE section.
Question1. Drug use - I used Marijuana last August (2007) at a concert - admitted on the questionaire. Since 1976 I used 35 times, Is this a instant DQ?
Question2. I am financially secure and do not need to work for income. I have not worked since Oct. 2006. Does this hurt me?
Question3. Will I get some credit for 22 years of a sucessful career, good credit (no debts), community work, and stable employment and family life? Or does the hiring process not differentiate between a 21 year old and a 46?
I have herd that the LASD has slowed their hiring of DSTs recently.
Thoughts on a future in LE?
Thank you for your reply.
