Does anybody have information on this agency? Do they receive 25% LEAP or AUO? How fast is promotion to GS-13? What is the work like, are AUSAs good about prosecuting their cases?
If anybody has good info on this agency it would be much appreciated.

They get LEAP.
Great agency that works big cases, obviously enviromental in nature.
I am in the process for NYC, got an email a few weeks ago from the HR but no real movement.

I applied recently, don't really have any environmental criminal investigative experience but figured I'd give it a shot.

I know the agents I have worked with are squared away and very happy with the agency. I don't know a whole lot else other than it has a great reputation among other federal agents.

Has anyone heard anything from EPA since the closing date? I only got an email saying my app. was received.

I didnt even get that. Can you check the status online?

If you applied on USAJOBS, log in as yourself. Click on applications, and under resume recieved, click more information. It will lead you back to the ez-hire page. Once there, it has another question (can't recall the wording) but it ask something about checking status or application status. See if that works. I got an email the day I applied, which had the job based questions that I answered for the application. It stated think you for applying, but send in your supporting documents to complete. See if that says anything

I believe when I check the app that way, it only states app received and no comments.

I was checking on the EPA thread on 911 Jobs forum, one of those guys was saying that it took 2 months before he got a letter telling him he was out of the process due to "lack of points". He applied in Jan. '08.

yea I've had a few of those, most recently with NCIS, applied in Jan 08, checked online just a few weeks ago and it said ineligible. B.A. and Military with L/E exp so Im not sure why im ineligible. I applied before I was 6 months from getting so Im hoping that had something to do with it. I cant think of a more difficult and frustrating process than trying to get a fed job.

I hear you. How many years military?

Dpd, do you have any time in a detective bureau in local LE? Reason I ask is I know a lot of agencies that won't accept patrol time as "investigative experience" equivalent to the GS-7 level. Not sure if this is why you did not have the points, I'm just guessing. I think it should count, but what do I know??? Anyway, I put in for the St. Louis opening, but I haven't received any word yet. This is my first try at a GS-9 application, so I have no idea if I will make the cut. I'm hoping my few years in the det bureau will qualify me.

Almost 5 years Military, Army MP, the last two have been with CID so that is where my investigative experience comes in. Road work as an MP doesnt count for much, that's why I moved over to CID when the opportunity presented itself.

Im applying for one of the HUD OIG jobs also, there are a bunch of them listd on USA JOBS. I applied to one back in Jan and got turned down but figured I'd keep throwing my name into the hat, you never know. It really doesnt matter to me GS -7 or 9, just want to get a foot in the door.

With those two years in CID, I can't imagine why you weren't eligible. Got me brother! Talk about confusing!

SuperCFD, what do you know about the agency, hiring process? I see you are talking about points, do you know much about this?

Sorry, I know zilch about this process. I was referring to your post about someone not being qualified for "lack of points". I thought that's what dpd was referring to when he was rated ineligible for a job.
Here's what I think though: I think they have some sort of point (or similar) system in which they rate candidates. If you have enough, you get an interview. If not, then you don't. I have nothing to back this up except I have heard of people getting the "thanks but no thanks" e-mail after they were determined not to be in the top 3 candidtes for a certain location. I think the 911 board is where I read that.
Here's what I DO know though: In order to land a GS9 slot, a candidate has to have a certain educational background (graduate level) or experience level equal to the next lower classification (GS7). It remains to be seen what counts as experince though. Patrol experiene rarely counts. But I don't know about local LE investigative experience, such as in a detective bureau.
Wish I had more on this particular process, but I don't. I haven't heard word one since I submitted my application.

ok, thank you. I was wondering myself since I have a BS degree and 6 years LE, some as detective. I guess the wait and see begins.

Well, checking 911 jobs threads, it seems a few folks got emails from some western cities for EPA-CID. Looking at those guys profiles, it seems that they are already federal government employees. I hope that is not a sign to come.

Anyone know when they will be hiring again?

The announcements were only open for five days. I would suggest creating an account on USAJOBS and setting up the "job agents" to e-mail you openings. That's how I found out.

I interviewed with EPA on Wednesday, but there were two questions I didn't get answers to.
Does anyone know if they will pay match above the GS-11 Step 10?
Does anyone know what the physical requirements are? The link on their website goes to a very non-definitive OPM page, and the SAC wasn't sure what the requirements were.
Thanks.

I wish I could answer your questions, Bruce. Unfortunately, I had one of my own. Do you interview in KC or STL? I've heard of KC applicants seeing movement, but no word about STL.
