Richmond Police

Just wondering if there are any members on the board with richmond pd. I am really interested in applying and am curious about the dept and the hiring process. Also would like to do a ride-along.

Richmond PD is a tough dept. I work in the bay area and have full repsect for the officers there. Its a pretty bad city to work in and you deal with a lot of gang members, but the officers i know there like it because they feel like they are making a difference.

Not many places that I could imagine being more exciting to work. I wouldn't even compare it to Oakland or LA. At least Oakland and LA have the size to offer different speeds of police work. If you're in Richmond, you're working a hopping city every day.
