does anyone have any info on becoming a park ranger?? Im mean a LE officer not a tour guide. I read you have to be commissioned level I or II whatever that means. There are seasonal postions aswell that last six months or so and i wonder if that could lead to full-time yr aound.
I applied for a position since but i only have 5 ys as a reserve officer, 1 summer as a boat & water officer, wildland fire training and Im a EMT but my guess is that its real competive and im going to be 37 in December so its a shot in the dark.

Level I and Level II sound like reserve officer designations in California, so perhaps reserve officers are accepted for seasonal park ranger jobs. It would make sense.

You will need to attend a NPS Seasonal Law Enforcement Academy....they are offered at several colleges throughout the US...I attended one in Franklin, NC years back....

Vermillion Community College offers a Seasonal Park LE Ranger Training course, I believe its around 20 credits. That is the only school I know that offers this program in Minnesota. To go FT I would imagine you would need to attend FLETC since it is a federal position. Hope this helps.
