background question from NYC for LAPD,LAFD

Hey guys. Say hypothetically a 22 y/o with a college degree that lives in ny but was convicted for a felony when he was younger out of state of which would not weigh as a felony in neither NY or CA applied to be a police officer or firefighter, would he be accepted? Thanks and be safe.

Any felony, no matter where it came from, is an auto DQ in California for Law Enforcement.

Keep in mind that you are still fighting an uphill battle and this is a real question for whatever particular agency you apply for.

Firefighters have peace officer status in California, so that maybe an auto DQ as well.
