I'm still not up to par with pistols and their value used, but I found some used Glock 22s for sale, with night sights and two magazines for $325. They look to be used duty pistols with some wear on them, but doesn't appear to be bad. Is that a decent price for one? I don't yet know where they are from or what type of night sights, but just looking at the price I wasn't sure what used G22s go for . This wouldn't be my duty pistol, just an extra one to keep in the car or in the house.

I understand a lot of people really like them. 325 doesn't sound bad to me; even a police trade in. Of course I don't know what they go for used. What caliber is it? Extra magazines? Compare prices on gunbroker.com for an idea.

Keeping an "extra" gun in a car could be asking for trouble. Especially now thta glove compartments can't be locked like in older cars. I get new auto burgs to follow up on every day. Guns need to be on your person, not under a seat.

Overall that's not a bad price for a "good" used gun, but be careful. Police duty weapons get shot a lot more than their civilian counterparts. You may be looking at soon having to replace parts, barrels, springs, etc and depending on the type of night sights you may be looking at replacing them also. Green light night sights are generally guarenteed to last for 12 years (Trijicon's, Meprolight, Glock Factory Night Sights, etc). If the gun is that old, you're looking at a gen 1 or 2 gun. You're going to want to check out the magazines as well. If they really are police trade-ins, you should hold out for the 3rd magazine. If you have a chance to shoot it before you purchase, do so. Since you said it's a G22, it's a .40 caliber. If you are LE and have a local LE Glock dealer, you can pick up a brand new G22 for around $400 with 3 mags.

That is an excellent price for a used G22 especially one with night sights. Go for it. If there is more than one take them down and check the rifiling in the barrels and look at the trigger springs and slide rails for wear then pick the best one.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'm going to hold off on it for now.

Gen 2 or Gen 3?

Forgot to put that. Gen 2.

They're on gunbroker.com. It wouldn't be permanently in the car, just the one I would carry with me in the car and leave in the house for the woman.

Yeah, and I've never heard of one wearing out. We've got Glocks that are 12 years old, and they still shoot just great. Very little maintenance problems.

We had extractor problems, but Glock sent us a bunch for free, and I and my boss are Glock armorers, so we replaced those. Those were Gen I guns, I think.

All Model 22s are .40 caliber, large frame. The Model 23s are the smaller frame, and the 19s are 9mm. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I think the price is about right. Cop guns may or may not get shot more than civilian guns, depends on where they came from.

I bought a used but like-new Smith revolver (SS, fixed sights, 4"...I thin it's a model 64) that came from the Corrections Dept. Got shot once a year.

But it's really hard to wear out a Glock, especially the large, expensive parts.
