I was wondering about the agencies near the border of LA , Inland Empire..El Monte, Brea Park , Covina, West Covina, Glendora and how the cost of living is near those areas?

The only dept I know anything about, would be West Covina PD. They've always been a well respected dept. They pay well also. Decent size city. Another dept you don't have listed is Pomona PD. Decent size city with alot of action. Glendora and Covina are pretty quiet cities. Smaller than Pomona and W.C. If you work either on those depts., you could find a nice house in San Bernardino County (Inland Empire). The drive wouldn't be bad either.

One of my partners was a reserve for Pomona PD for a few years before going full time with us. He loved it there but when he wanted to go full time they were on a hiring freeze. He said that he always felt like the Brass was 100% behind their troops, which is something that is not unheard of these days, but definately not everywhere you look.

I moved to the IE from Orange county and it has its pluses and minuses. I dont miss the congestion of OC, but I do miss taking runs on the beach. I also run into people I have hooked up quite freaquently now. Ontario mills is a breeding ground for parolees.

Look into Chino PD also. If you can land a job there you will be set. Great department, great pay, great location.

Sorry for any spelling errors, I just got off a 15 hour shift.

If you're looking into the "IE," then check out Fontana PD also. They're still hiring alot from what I've been told. Good dept and size. Approx. 130,000-150,000 city population I think. Still growing too.

Ontario PD is supposed to be a good dept- but they don't pay there officers worth a crap! I'd choose Fontana PD,Chino PD,and Redlands PD

Chino PD. Good sized Department, pro-active, right on the south-western edge of San Bernardino County... They are hiring right now too...

22 on Redlands PD. We had a guy lateral there, only to jump ship after 2 months, just before he ate his gun. They have one very small area that may or may not have a few parolees living there, and if you through a rock into it you would probably hit a copper before a crook :)

On the other hand its a great place to live.

Disclaimer: I may be exagerating a bit about patrol, but it really is a great place to live, I know because I live here hehe.
