Supposedly this is a former LAPD officer- I truly hope this ends without misery...

just curious doacop, why it's paid by LAX? shouldn't LAX get all the cool stuff, instead of LAPD?

..."yes", yes they do - and its probably PAID for by LAX,like alot of "neat" toys they get( meanwhile they cut our OT and budget to shore up LAPDs needs-but hey,IF I get jammed up- I'm going on citywide ASD/HS/K9frequency and DEFINITELY BEGGING for Metro Div.)

I kinda liked the old SWAT truck better.
Our new bomb truck looks exactly like the new SWAT truck.

Isn't your old bomb truck sitting in the parking lot of Hollywood Motors in Canoga Park?

Good question, I don't know. I know the new one sits at Piper Tech until needed, like the new SWAT truck sits at Central Station until needed.

why would that happen ??? when we got GLOCKS first-Bratton didn't like it .when we deployed 40mm less lethal weapons,Bratton said that ONLY SWAT should have them, and when we deployed M-4 carbines to every officer who qualified with them,Bratton blew a gasket and said that only BETTER trained LAPD officers should be at LAX with them(LAx coppers were being trained by LASD with the UPRs before doing back to LAPD academy )- alot of equip is bought and transferred to LAPD from LAX under their service contract to LAX-something the Mayor , the airport commisioners and the council just can't seem to stop, despite their complaints by them that LAPD is merely raidng another Depts budget for what they want ( case in point - 80% of the K-9s vehicles- whether they work LAX or not, were paid for by LAX);ideally ,such as a incident like what happended in chatworth,LAPD would pour all the avail resources in here, but the reality is that the city just buys more stuff later for LAXPD to have in case LAPD isn't available-hence its own k-9 unit of almost 20 officers and k-9s,a 12 man SRT unit, and in 2009,its own bomb squad..... so much for efficiency and budgeting:rolleyes:

the incident ended that night at 11pm with the suspect, Andrew Conly ,36 yrs, surrendering to LAPD SWAT without injury to himself, officers or his 5 yr old son.the incident started over a child custody dispute in which Conly refused to turn his son over to his ex wife. Conly was on probation for one month before resigning from LAPD in 1994.( and apparently not employed in Law enforcement with any other Dept)-Conly is being held at Van nuys div Men's jail on $50,000 bail
Apparently the hostage situation went down by the "numbers" and the vaunted LAPD SWAT took care of business "as usual".....
