Hello all,

I've just started on a diet. I'm worried I will get bored with it and slack off, and wondered what are some good food recipes for snacks and meals.

Thanks

Pick up some vegitarian cook books. They are super healthy and they will teach you how to make vegies taste good. :) Not like you have to convert to be a vegetarian just supplement regular meals with more vegies. Good luck.

My extra two cents...Don't do Adkins or South Beach.

Healthy Chocolate Milk

2 c unsweetened soy or non-fat regular milk
1-2 tbs cocoa
1/4 tsp stevia (artificial sweeteners can be substituted)

Mix in blender. (It doesn't stir very well.)

185 calories

This really keeps me on track when I crave chocolate. It has very little fat and carbs, and no sugar. You also get antioxidants from the cocoa. It can make you constipated if you drink too much though. ;)

You could probably add protein powder if you're into that, but then I would add a bit more sweetener.

Yeah, no need for fancy diet plans. If you just eat sensibly and maintain portion control you won't need one. The vegetarian advice is good. Make a vegetarian dish that you can eat lots of to fill up, add a protein and you are good to go. I have just realized that if you think about it, Americans eat SO much protein and we have the highest instances of obesity and heart disease of all the world. We plan our meals around a protein source. Look at Asian countries, usually much less overweight and traditionally they live very long lives and they eat a lot of veggies with a little added protein. Has me re-thinking how I am going to eat from here on out.
