My home town, City of Orange has a few of those bad boys on the streets. LAPD has one wasting away at PAB, right next to the convertible mustang...unless you want to count the captains' take home rides, then we have a bunch of chargers and 300s.

Irwindale has a couple of them bad boyz. Sweet cars, too. I also saw Sheriff Baca and Tanaka with one each. Now if we could just get them to filter down to the radio car level!

They are gonna phase out the Chargers for OIC's.

I've seen Glendale PD use them.

In NorCal I know Alameda Sheriff and San Ramon PD have/are getting them. Martinez PD has one for a K9 car.

Ditto here- LAx mgm't has "tested" them- but so far no taking yet( some in dept mgm't have the 300s).having come on in the generation of the LAST TRUE police car - the 88-93 chev.caprice classic, complete with "police pkg" and the TEXAS manufactured sticker attached to the windshield) I have utter contempt for the "future" taxi we call the crown vic. but also having driven the V8 dodge and chrysler.as well as having seen them in traffic collisions. i don't think we are geting a "better" deal than the ford we are already driving 9 with ford you know you will either 1)be ejected from the veh. after a severe t/c 2)burn to death after a rear end collision. 3) be stuck and bleed out after being jammed in the twisted frame) gruesome i know- but I "survived" a bad collision in a Chev. in '93 and walked away with only a busted lip-hit by a drunk while on patrol, and dumb as I was ,was n't wearing a seatbelt. about a yr or so ago I responded to a multi car T/C and the front end and roof of a "pimped out" dodge charge were literally sheared off after having struck a mostly fiberglass rear end of a local hotel transport van ! The driver was DUi and his passengers jaw(his fiancee) had been partially ripped away-had it not been for seatbelts both would have been fatals (K rpts)-scarier still ,all the wits to the collision said the dodge driver was going fast ,maybe an estimated 30-35 mph in moderate traffic, but the collision scene looked like when we we respond to the 80-90 mph "rice racer" crack ups near the beach.maybe dodges police pakg has some re enforced frames and better breaking/cooling systems, but IF not,I won't savor havin to operate one.......

are you kidding?? the new impalas are "great" ????? sure they're great if you are the size of a HOBBIT or a 13 yr old girl(which seems to be what most depts are hiring anyway when I see all the ooommpah loompahs coming out of the academy-one recent recruit "complained" that her dept issued beretta vertec, the thinnest gripped pistol i know of- was still TOO big for her hands)

Thats crazy about the durablity because a mechanic at Eastern was telling me that the Ford was a better built car to take a TC because of it's Frame. This was while he was pointing out a unit (ford) that was recently rolled....

lol. i'm short, but i'm no hobbit! i was in the passenger seat of one of them and there was a good amount of room (not as much as the crown vic, but enough)

No,bro-not crazy! review some of this critiques about the ford crn vic in police uses- BIG time past issues about rear impact detenations of gastanks and alot of officers getting ejected from the veh due to side impacts-still i would place my "trust" in a ford before the dodge or the chrysler...

Gotta get the hemi

YOU KNOW draned well the penny pinching and "cops act badly" thinking mgm't drones are NOT going to let the working class knuckle draggers have hemi's ! it will be the anemic 3.5 v-6-( wow- a whole 245 Bhp! the avg secretary in her "stock" nissan altima, with 270 BHP can blow the doors off one!):(

I did a study and comparison between the Crown Vic and the Charger. The V6 Charger has the same performance numbers as the V8 Crown Vic. The Hemi blows everything else outta the water.

My crown vic is a gas dog anyway. Between freeway driving and beat driving I burn half a tank every 100 to 115 miles during my shift. Yes I have a lead foot...
