Hey how is everyone doing? Here's the scoop. Got called for NY state trooper processing up in Albany in the summer of '07. Filled out the paper work and took the psych. Unfourtunately I was Dq'ed (Speeding ticket/Seat beat ticket from about a year before). Now I was called for NYPD this past fall '07 and took the psych in Nov. '07. Now the doctor said that see needed to get the psych from the troopers before she could move me along (put me on hold). Now I get a call on friday saying that I have to go meet with her in about a week for a second psych interview. Now I am wondering what all this could mean. Has anyone one else had this situtation before or similar?

I would not worry too much. It is common to have an interview after you take the written portion of the psychological inventories. I had to have two separate interviews because the first doc did not understand what I meant by some of my answers. I either did not understand the objective of his question or did not articulate myself well enough.

They DQed you because of a year old speeding ticket? Wow I guess I am screwed. What if you took one of those point reduction classes?

I'm guessing it was a really high speed, + the seatbelt summonse. Looks real reckless to them.

Yeat the tickets were within about a two weeks of each other. And I have yet to take a point reduction class. So I have two points. Plus they had, from what I gathered, a large pool of qualified candidates to choose from. So they were looking for anything to seperate the candidates. With the evaluations I'm really talking about two interviews with the NYPD. Took the written, went in to talk to them, they requested records from the state police, then they called me telling me to come in again for a second interview. Has anyone heard of that?

I've heard of a few people getting called in for a second interview. If I had to guess, I'd say that they have questions about the records from NYSP. A couple people I've talked to who had to send in records from psych treatment, etc. said they had to go back for a second interview, and that they were asked questions about the contents of the records. The psychologist will probably ask you to explain some of your responses to NYSP's questions. I wouldn't sweat it too much, unless they tell you you're on review.
Keep in mind, review and hold are two different things - don't hear "hold" and think it's "review" and feel like you're doomed. Now, if you are placed on review, it's tough to get off, but not impossible. I doubt you'll be on review for anything in your NYSP record, though, unless you gave crazy answers to their questions. Just clearly explain anything they want you to explain, and don't reveal more than you need to.
You're on point with "large pool of qualified candidates." Seems like everyone I talk to in the NYPD's Academy took the NYSP test, too...I think I read in the news they had 20,000 people take the last test? Yikes.
