What is better between a large agency and a small agency? Do I have a better chance at getting into a larger agency or a smaller agency? What agencies are considered the best in L.A County? Thanks for your replies in advance.

One more question...... Do you think smaller agency Officers are better trained then larger agencies? due to the fact that larger agencies don't have the money like smaller agencies have.

Not to be a jerk, but you might consider STFF, this one in particular, your topic has been thoroughly discussed in the last coupla weeks.

Is your main goal just getting a badge and a gun or are you looking for a crime-ridden city?

I don't care about the crime rate in the city, I just want to work around people who are happy were there at and happy with the department they work for. I want a department that supports there patrol officers with not a lot of turnover rate within the department.
You should go on ride-a-long's if you want to find a department you'd be happy at. Find what type of policing interests you and what you want to be involved in (e.g. Community Oriented Policing, High-Speed Low Drag, etc).
Every department has their share of C.O.P. and Action, its just the amount that differs.
Just because Person A is happy at a department doesn't mean Person B will be. So the best advice I can give you is find out what you want to do first, then research departments, go on ride-a-longs, and see if it caters to your needs.

Thats not nice, I've read PO's reports that was worst then that (and i'm sure you have as well being a retired Sgt.). But I get your point. :p
Yea dude, stay in school and worry about cop work later. Go on ride-alongs while you continue your education.
