First off, Hello All.
I'm new here, but I've been reading things on this site long enough to know that this is yet another "what to wear" question. So I apologize. I'm going to take the initial written test & written psychological teat for CDCR. Now, when I applied for OCSD we first had to show up in athletic attire, then after the PA test was the oral panel where suits were reccommended. The corrections test is only 2 tests and I don't know if the psych even an oral one. I'm sure I should wear a suit. Can someone advise me on this? Also, what are the approximate/usual timeframes between each stage up to the BI?

Thanks.

When in doubt, (they dont specifically tell you what to wear) dress in formal business attire. Remember you are interviewing for a job, even if your only taking a test. You will be scrutinized at every step of the process.

The written exam is business casual, but when you take the oral psych wear a suit. CDCR has a lengthy hiring process which is about 8-10 months from the written date. The selection process consists of written/PAT/BI/oral/medical.

Wear the suit. It might suck but it might get you a JOB.

+1 for the suit, unless you are directed otherwise...

Really it shouldnt even be an issue...wearing a suit when you dont have to will not look bad, on the other hand not wearing a suit when you should may cause you to not be hired...

You should wear a suit to every single step of any hiring process other then the PT test.

^ We had an applicant wear a suit for the PAT and one investigator said all of us should've been in one. Needless to say I got hired and for him, well...

Wear of suit for everything you do. From the oral interview to simply dropping off papers to your background investigator. Make the effort, it shows!

I'd second the suit.....but I'm sure you have heard about the state budget crunch? I've heard they are getting ready to lay off about 2,000 Corrections Officers. It might be awhile before they are hiring again.
