Anyone else sign up for the Glen Cove PD test back in Nov? I just called Glen Cove Civil Service and they told me that the results should be in my hands by the end of next week. It was the same test as NYSUP and NYSPP but I don't know when those results will be back. I wanted Glen Cove more than those two anyway though so I am glad it is first.:D

are you a resident?

I know 7 people that scored 100 on the exam who were not residents and were not called, and 1 person who got in the high 90's (forget his grade) and is a resident who was called.
good luck.

Unfortunately I'm not a resident. Hopefully the residents this time around will be less compatible and they can get to the out-of-city candidates. (I know, I'm optimistic ) Thanks for the info though. :)

good luck. truely good luck.

I've never heard of them hiring outside residents. I know alot of people and the only jobs that hire outside residents are Long Beach PD, Freeport PD (just dropped city residency a few years ago which is why I'll be joining that department at the very least) and rockville centre PD, I think there are 2 more but I cant remember the names.

Thanks, and good luck to you as well. I've been keeping an eye on Long Beach PD. I've seen Freeport PD's marked units driving around but I thought they hired off the county list. If they have their own civil service department I'll be looking at them as well. I've got an hour an a half left of work, might as well search for their website now (shhh ;)).

Ah, okay thought so. You seem to be applying to just about as many agencies as I am haha. I think I am up to nine that I'm either on the list for or at least signed up for a test. I am shooting for about eleven or twelve agencies to apply to. The competition is stiff in NY but I'm willing to push until I get it. :)

well, I'm on the list for NYPD FDNY TBTA (I'll be on that job in the spring) NYSC & NCPD. At the very least I'll be on Freeport Police Department at 20 or hopefully NCPD. I'm really looking forward to TBTA, thats going to be a lot of fun to be on. I'm also taking the MTAPD test and SC Deputy Sheriff exam, alot of these I just took to take, but like I said my last resort is Freeport Police (I'm guaranteed).

Guaranteed how? If you've got some sort of hook in the Freeport PD, that may help you get picked to attend the academy, but you've still got to get through the Nassau County PD academy, which Freeport PD has zero to do with, and from what I hear, it isn't a cakewalk.

I know the son of a Chief in Suffolk Co. who was attending the NCPD academy for a village PD, and he was kicked out because he figured he didn't have to abide by the same rules as everyone else because pops was brass with another agency.

Just tread lightly. If you get as far as the academy, keep in mind you're at a disadvantage right off the bat because you're attending for an agency other than NCPD, everyone will know this, and you're going to stick out, which in a police academy is a BAD thing. Keep your mouth shut as much as possible, do what's required of you, and for the love of God, don't do anything to draw attention to yourself.

I wish you luck.

I've got a really big (and I mean ginormous) hook in NCPD, he just makes a phone call and they pull me off the list. I have a lot of family and friends who went through the NCPD academy, so I know what to do and what not to do. And yes I am looking toward to being a toll cop.

They can't just pull you off the list, unless you're getting pulled off by a town or village PD. Civil Service law requires the entity which created the list (IE Nassau County) to hire off the list, in order. However, being that most towns and villages aren't covered by Civil Service law, they can pick and choose who they want off the list.

Anyone else get their results today? It seemed like a hard test, but I did better than I thought. Anyone know how many people Glen Cove anticipates on hiring from this list?

I got my result. I thought I did better. I got an 85 and list # is 62. I don't expect to be called.
