A few questions..(3)

I'm sorry if this questions end up sounding confusing but il try.Just came back from class and im tired.

1.As far as i know you don't need a diploma in Criminal Justice or anything along those lines to be an office,is that correct?
Im in college doing Liberal Arts but im going to change it to music because im a musician..

2.I'm 19 right now,how soon should i take the exam?

3.How do they feel about guys with long hair in the academy and also while hired.I love my long hair but i do most of the time keep it in a pony tail so it looks nice and neat.I even worked in the city as a doorman like that,and they got some harsh rules on appearance.I mean if woman can keep their long hair why cant man right.

4.I have not been a very good student in High School.Would they hold that against me?
I never got arrested or a ticker.But i did have bad grades and got in to trouble with the principle and other important people in High School.
But when i droped out and went for my GED i have been a good student sence then.

1. You don't need a diploma, just the amount of credits the Department requires.

2. Take them as soon as possible, if you dont score as high it still gives them 2 years to get to you, and if you score high and get called right away you can put yourself on hold.

3. The academy has strict guidelines on grooming, your hair can not touch your collar, and a male cop with a pony tail looks very sloppy and unprofessional.

4. as long as you never committed a crime, and passed (got your GED) your ok....I guess.

your going to have to get use to short hair if your working in law enforcement or any public service type position really. It's not that big a deal.. as for not doing well in hs if you did well in college that really will make little difference.

I don't really have a problem with cutting my hair short,but i just like long hair more.But i can live with that.

Do you know if the NYPD takes vocational credits, because I have 11 vocational credits from my EMT-B class?

Also does anyone know their policy on applicant's prior drug usage? Like what drugs and how many times of usage will automatically DQ you from the process. I am asking because I have used Cocaine once when I was 18 and was gonna apply to the NYPD when I turn 21. any help would be appreciated.

yeah, great moral stature. How old are you now? you must have done it within the last 2 years, and cocaine is a pretty big drug to jump to. I see people get hassled for weed, and thats like cigs compared to cocaine.

if you cant follow the law how are you expected to enforce it?
