I applied about 5 years ago and passed the first phase...got scheduled for phase 2 but was cancelled for unknown reason to me. But I was contacted to take a language test and I passed......and NO WORDS!!!!

I am now 35 years old...I want to try again with the FBI before I turned 37.

Do I need to take tests again or it is on file somewhere. I have no luck talking to HR at the FBI office.

any suggestions/recommendations would help. thanks

If I were you I would try for a different covered position (12d) that moves things along faster, just to get your foor in the door. You are already in the running for the SA position but are pushing close to the age limit.

Have you completed additional training or schooling that will make you more attractive as an applicant? Depending on the critical skill they are currently looking for (switches as often as you change underwear), you may or may not be in demand soon.

Lastly, when you originally replied did you use the local recruiter in your area? If so, they are a great resource for assistance.

I think I did all I can do. I got a BA, been in law-enforcement for about 5 years now, speak 2nd language. I don't know what else I can do...

I am happy where i am at now....but i always wanted to be FBI agent. I want to give it one last try before i throw in the white flag. That is wht I want to talk to a SA instead of HR personel to get the real scoop on things.

thanks for the reply...

If you want to go fed you need to get in a position before you turn 37, then you have time to get to the agency you like... im sure you already know that... but here is wishing you luck :)

A little about dancing with the Bureau. BS/13 year LEO at the time and a supervisor. I tested in 04,passed, was submitted for second phase a year later 05. Updated my file again, failed second phase and got another chance. Passed second phase 06. During all this time, I had been trying other federal agencies but got set on the Bureau. Passed all my medical (after having a surgery),full background in my hometown, all my life on file. You will get to know your State FBI Recruiter by First name. You will have to push and press him/her every month. They are in and dont see the urgency. I lacked my PT test and kept reminding the recruiter about my 37th birthday coming up. YOU HAVE TO BE SWORN IN AT THE ACADEMY BEFORE YOU TURN 37. I turned 37 before he got me in. Yea, they spent all that money on me and I spent alot jumping through their hoops. Their reply, We cant get you in!!! What!! three years of this dance, and they cant get me onboard. Did not even receive a "good dance" "We hated it" letter. I knew then I did not need to work for an agency that worked at such a pace.
Moral of the story? Burn paper to CBP or some other 1811 job. What Bureau!!

You already failed the first portion of the test....you have to be able to spell "Special Agent" correctly. LOL.

Sorry, I couldn't resist...

I took phase 1 almost 4 yrs ago and got on with my current job before phase 2 so i ddin't proceed with them.

I still received letters from the FBI telling me I was still eligible and then a few months ago the same week I received a letter saying I am eligible I received a letter stating I am not longer being considered as a candidate unless I have added skills which meet their critical needs.

I can't answer you question but I am thinking unless you have added something different to your resume I am thinking you may need to test again.

I used to go on another forum years ago and they had literally dozens of FBI SA candidates and SA on there. google 911 police forums...

Maybe a quick tip if you're running out on the age limit, get in with the BOP as a correctional officer. You'll be in the federal law enforcement system then and you'll be able to lateral over regardless of age at that point. Assuming you pass all other requirements of course. Just a tidbit a Special Agent gave me due to being close to the age limit myself.

Odds are if you are not SRT, speak a 2nd language i.e. Farsi, Chinese, Arabic, etc or have an extensive IT background they are going to pass on you.

I am no expert nor an agent, but know several and that is the feedback I am getting.
