Just wondering if any of you guys have any inside connections that could tell us if NYS expects to offer the ECO exam this year.
Thanks!

DEC does not though. Last test was Dec. '06.

Yeah, I'll post when I get an email back. DEC is a hard agency to get hired, there is so few ECO's. Did anyone here test with the NY State Park Police in November? I missed that becuase I was taking the DCSO test, which was given on the same day.

I took NYSPP. Why didn't you cross register for tests? I did with NYSUP and NYSPP.

I'll work in a different part of the state for a while for $70k +/year, but for $45,000 it doesn't make up the difference enough in travel costs (my wife has an excellent $$ job here already).
That being said, if an offer was on the table for any statewide agency, it would be hard to turn down ;)

Haha sorry, I was directing that more towards reils49. However, I do see your logic in not taking that Parks test. I am a little skeptical about it because it means moving downstate (not sure if that's where I want to be) and also two extremely hard academies (assuming I may one day get into NYSP). I would rather work for University Police where I am getting experience, not having to move real far from home, and working with a department I have worked with in the pas.

From what I understand, most of the UP positions will be avaiable downstate as well. At least that is what I remember from the exam announcement, but I could be incorrect.

Parks is mostly downstate. There were two different UP tests, Upstate and Downstate. I took the Upstate test.

Pretty sure you can cross register for any/all CS tests being offered on the same days. At my test, I had guys registered for NYSUP, NYSPP, DCSD, and Onondaga County Sheriff's Office.

He told me that his score was 80. He is a police officer now though, not sure if that helped him.
BTW, he also told me that he is on the reserve list for the academy. Five people have to drop out before he makes in in.
