Hi everyone-

I'm just wondering how long it took- in your experiences- between taking the written test and beginning the rest of the screening/ application process?

The reason I ask- I am in Norway at the moment and will be until August when I move home to the states. I am trying to determine which next test date would be more reasonable to take. If its a long time between testing and selection, I may as well come back in Feb and get the test out of the way.

How long, also for those who have completed it, was the entire screening process? This is just out of curiosity. Thanks for the help.

I think how quickly things move depends on how close it is getting to the beginning of a class and how desparate they are to fill the class. I took the test in mid-November and they wanted me to come in Dec. 8 or 9 for the next part of the processing with the goal of completing the processing in time for the Jan. 08 class. I didn't because I couldn't start in the Jan. class anyway and they told me to call and re-schedule after the Jan. class starts. Now you're looking at the July class at the earliest and things might, for now, move a little slower. For you, it will probably be the Jan 09 class. Still, IMHO I think it's good to get the test out of the way. I may be wrong, but I think your place in the class may be based on which test you took. If a class is likely to get filled, which they haven't been, you are more likely to get in if you're working off an earlier test. If the class isn't filling up, it probably doesn't matter at all when you take the test and, in your case you could possibly do as well waiting until you come back.

You must be a citizen by the time of appointment and you must have your citizenship papers. A green card will not work. I tested in June 07, and processed everything else in one week during the second week of Dec. 07. I just got the call for the swear in and will be there Jan 7, 2008. I hope this helps.

Don't worry folks, I'm just in Norway for a job. I'm a US citizen, NY resident with a NY driver's license- all that jazz.

Thanks for the info, and yes JohnieBK, it does help. I think I'm going to try for the February exam, and if I can get out of this country a couple months earlier, I might be able to squeeze into the summer academy class. If not, it will be Jan 09 for me.

If you live abroad more than a few months it can slow down your BI, fyi
