Hey All,
I was wondering if you had any feedback or advice. Roughly a year ago I started applying to a few departments. (US Capitol Police, Uniformed Division, A local County, and even the FBI police) Heres my deal (and thank you for your time reading it):
-Cap police I got all the way through every step, but they said i didnt score high enough on the psych exam (what does this mean?Is it pointless for me to reapply this year?)
-Uniformed Division I got a letter saying no thanks after my panel.
-FBI police I passed panel, testing, got offer letter, but failed the polygraph. then they sent a letter saying no thanks.
-the local county I got a no thank you after my panel.
I understand becoming an officer is very time consuming and I know why. I also understand why they must test each applicant throughly. My question is do you think I am not cut out for Law enforcement? Or have people encoutnered numerous road blocks like this in the past and overcome them over time (within 2 years) in law enforcement?
Thank you.

You should try MPDC (better job than USCP, FBI police or SSUD) unless you want to do security. I know they are looking for people, I applied when I was UD and pulled app. They just called last week to see if I am interested.
Also check out Balt City and most of the county depts in MD. Keep trying, worst they can say is no.

Alright you failed 2 panels, a psych and a poly. You need to sit down review the questions and awnsers to the best of your ability and adapt/change your awnsers to suite what they are looking for (no lies). There are many reasons for this, did you just talk to much (say stuff that just wasn't relivant) or such as the poly did they believe you were lying or just inconclusive. Remember a psych. is about being consistant on the written.
Always keep in mind in this situation you may make a great LEO but unforunatly the process isn't suitable for you. There are plenty of LEO's out there that shouldn't be but can talk a good game.

-Thanks for you opinions guys and yea I have to agree looking back Timtim I was kind of just rambling on with answers almost telling to much needless facts and info (Like I recall telling them my friend gave me a $5.00 piece of merchandise 10 years ago in HS that I new he didnt pay for) I knew it would be on my mind on the poly so I thought it was best to throw out anything I thought of), but I go real anxious being hooked up to that machine...the polygrapher told me I reacted to every question so I know I don't fend well with those things, haha.

Just keep trying... I'm in the same boat...
-Failed the FBI Police Poly, Twice
-Turned down by the FAMS hiring panel
-Made it through two thirds of the DSS BEX
-Turned down by AFOSI
-Turned down by NCIS
-Turned down by AOSI
I'm sure there are others....
Honestly these failures have motivated me to put forth a better product. I've studied Arabic in Beirut and I will be graduating in April with my masters. Since studying Arabic it seems like I’ve been given more and more opportunities. I have no plans on giving up…
Keep trying and good luck!
