Is there anyone here who is in charge of their department's cell extractions?

I am the control tactics instuctor in my county and the one issue we have is not having specific policies and practice in place for extractions. I am having difficulty finding any training involving cell removal.

Can anyone advise where I could get some information?

One thing with cell extractions is be sure to have all basis covered before moving on with an extraction. All cells, pod, or that wing locked down. Radio channel cleared for extraction team. Have one team member have a video camera for evidence and to help cover your A@#. If a subject does not want to come out, he/she is probably going to fight and looking for any excuse to sue for excessive force. A 1st entry man with shield to provide protection from items that may be thrown or you can also pin or "surf" the subject to control him. OC or taser depending on your dept. policy on what officers are allowed to carry, if you have both have them on hand just in case. Most of what I have seen and what was used at our department is Ranking officer there to explain options to the subject try to talk them out first and the end result if they dont. 1 officer as camera man and 4 members for extraction. This is basic hope it works. so a total of 6 officers. With this train, train, train using reserves or other officers and red man suit if you have it or some kind of protection for the role player. Video tape your training as an aid and training record and log it down in your training records, if its not recorded or logged down it did not happen.

Thanks for the information. I think I will write this stuff down and work from here. Good information. I am in the process of trying to track down our Redman suit. As typical, it is missing like so much other stuff.

Here are a couple of websites to use, the first one is how it should be done and is a good training tool.

this is a good one also, you can also write your SOPs based off of this.

These provide some training in cell extractions:
