Not really related to this Forum, but the answer is marriage.

Find an employer to sponsor you.

that's easier said then done.....I am looking for a LE job and I have been told that they can't help me with any of this. I am looking to move/work in Alaska.

To gain permanent resident status I believe you have to live in the US for a period of time, assuming you don't marry a citizen, and even then... Student visa & work visa probably being the most common. Even a US citizen has to jump through hoops in order to change state residency such as; buying a house, marrying a resident of the state, time...not always, but I know a few instances where someone tried to move to save on tuition... Getting an employer to sponsor you costs a lot of money on the employers part, as well as your own. Paperwork fees can reach over a few thousand dollars out of your own pocket. An employer has to be willing to pay their share for you to work for them as well, so you have to be some kind of wiz in order for that to happen. We could talk about diplomatic immunity, and all those things, but I'm pretty sure Cunucks don't qualify under that. Since this is an LE forum, don't you have to be a US citizen to be a police officer in the US?

yes you do for the most part....however there are 14 states that allow you to work with just a permanent resident status/resident alien status.

There are several expatriate sites on the web. Have you tried asking in one of those? They might be better able to help you. You could also ask an immigration atty.

are you here legal now? while marriage will help it by no means guarntees you status, your background and most of all if you marriage is fradulent then you could be in big trouble even if they find out yrs down the raod.

joining the military is by far the fastest
