Hey everyone, just got approved for this site and came looking for a few answers. First of all, I live in Alabama, having moved here from NYC when I was 14. I am deploying with my Marine Reserve unit to Iraq in March, my second tour overseas. I am only 1 semester from graduating with a BA in history from the University of Alabama.
My question concerns my out of state residence. When I return from Iraq I plan on moving back to NY and applying for the NYPD. I know I must be a resident of the state at the time of my hire and possess a NY state drivers license, but will living away from the area for a long time affect my being hired? I am taking the NYPD exam in Feb. while I visit a few friends, since I know that they will store my test scores for me while overseas.
Has anyone had any experience with this type of situation before? Thank you for any help and advice.
