Next Job?

OK. I am in the application process for a January 28 academy class. I haven't heard back from them yet so I am preparing for the worst. I currently work a retail job right now, but was told today that the store is closing down. Worse case scenario, I will not be accepted into the academy this time around so i will need a job before the application process starts again.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what job I should pursue until I can apply again to a department? Work working security or something equivalent be better for my chances of getting into the academy than a typical retail job?

Well, the department still has the better part of January to either select or non select you for the Academy. I certainly understand your concern. Try to line up a job simply to keep some money coming in. A security job won't give you any particular advantage in future applications.
