I am spending the weekend before Christmas at home healing from surgery I had yesterday. I can honestly say that this is the first year that I was not out in that mad rush finishing up.
While laying here, on some VERY, VERY wicked pain medicine, I have come to understand that:
I spend way too much money for the nothing I get on the TV.
A bag of frozen peas makes a great ice pack.
Kids don't understand not to jump up and down on daddy's bed.
I hate being trapped indoors for more than 12 hours.
I have the best family and friends.
Oxycodone is my best friend right now!! :D
I have got to be up and moving by monday morning!!
You don't realize how much a part of your body can hurt, no matter what
you do.
I wish I had someone hear to "baby" me!! :D
I hope everyone has a GREAT Christmas!!!
Stay safe.
Live it up!! Live it up!!
Sometimes you have to be made to chill out in order to realize how stressful we have made the Christmas season.

Having recently had surgery, I can sympathize. I remember the days when I would dream about being bed ridden. When it actually happens, it is NO fun! I'm starting to get around now. I wish you a full and speedy recovery.
That was something I wondered: how can you have 300 channels and NOTHING is on!

I don't know what is worse. Having surgery on a body part or having work done on my teeth. My face made me feel like I was a chipmunk.:o:(
Oops... forgot to say I love to baby people. Ok maybe men...:p but I am not sure if your wife would like that too much. Hope you are up moving around soon!

I hear you. The guy who I went to told me, when I asked about recovery, "well everybody is different (duh) I've had patients who went rock climbing the next day" At least now that I went under his rusty dull spoon looking shank that he has had a patient who did nothing but sit in a dark room and whimper between doses of vicadin for four days.

I know what you mean. My appendix ruptured Nov 2006 and I was in and out of the hospital through to January due to complications with infections (not the surgeons fault, just difficult location).
I ended up with a nasal gastric tube for the first 2 weeks and let me tell you feeling that thing get shoved in and having to deal with it was a pain I don't ever want to have again. The morphine drip would barely take the edge off.
Managed to be home for Thanksgiving and Christmas but I was on so many mega-antibiotics that nothing tased good (among other "issues" I won't mention ;) )
Then there was the recovery at home. Booooorrrrriiiinnngg. I wore off the writing on the channel buttons. 200 choices and I end up watching MASH or Cosby show because I can't stand just about every "new" show out there.
Cheer up though, you will get better. I know I was struggling with that thought after my 3rd surgery but I'm back to my normal (as normal can be) self. Only thing that really bummed me was I gained the 40 pounds I lost in the hospital. Was hoping to keep 30 of it off for good.

Went through the same thing last summer when I tore my meniscious in my knee, still haven't felt right but yeah it sucks. Godspeed to you. Just dont forget to put those pee's back in the freezer and mark them so you dont eat them later by accident. I do the same thing and fell asleep leaving them out to defrost and the smell was instant on the puke mechanisim. They gave me percocet and I now understand why people become addicted to those types of narcs, they are the only thing since that has stopped my pain in both my knees and ankles at the same time. I don't know the nature of your injury but if it's joints or muscle use your physical therapy if anything for the massages those ladies give you and the shock machine they hit your muscles with. See also if while you are down if you can do online recert training and don't go back light duty if you work patrol to sit in an office take the time to heal up properly if you can.
