Stop sticks in Fla Off Deaths

Guy's and Gal's do not take this in a wrong way shape or form, but I have to know.

1. Did the stop sticks used in the incident where the 2 Fla officers were accidentaly killed by one of there brothers not come equiped with ropes,strings,reels etc to pull them out of the way?

2. Or were they broken off and the department was to cheap to replace them and 2 courageous men died a needless death?

The only info we get is what's been in papers or the dept official release.

My regards to there familes all and I hope the officer that struck them accidentaly survive's this also.

If the string were broken on mine, I'ld just replace it. Not even enough to make it worth while bothering the department. They most likely just forgot their training in the excitement. String or not, never go out in front of pursuing police cars after stop sticks or stingers.
