I plan on attending the local Academy next fall through a track program provided by the school. Afterwards I have two choices, I can stay in school for another two years and get a 4 yr. Degree in Criminal Justice or get a job right away. I really am getting sick of college but know that a 4 yr. Degree can help out while climbing the ladder.
I can go down either road at this point and was wondering what the experienced population has to say

Get the degree, it will DEFINATELY make you more desirable.

if you have 4 years left of college, you shouldn't be too sick of it yet....any way on a more serious note...

there will always be police jobs availible somewhere if you want it bad enough. if you take a job right away the odds of you finishing your degree drop dramatically. i know people say oh you can do it online but that will take you even longer.

also once you do the academy most colleges i am familiar with will give you something like 30 credits so you are down to 3 years already.

in addition have you ever considered going fed? you will need a degree. i have even heard of more and more departments requiring a degree to advance to any supervisory position.

for your own benefit get the degree.

That seems to be the most sensible option after thinking about it for a few days. Thanks
