Just out of curiousity. Does New York State take laterals for Correctional Officer? Hows the overtime and what do you usually take home every two weeks?

As for laterals, I believe that there are none. I remember talking with someone who was a Virginia Sheriff CO/Deputy who had to go through from beginning. OT is one of those shooting pains....it shoots sky-hi one month, and then shoots to nil for a few months. Usually alot of OT during summer months when senior guys fall ill (wink), get vacations or personal days, and/or go out on Comp/Disability. Then again in winter months during snowstorms, you may be lucky to make it for your shift and be able to stay for the next one because of travel bans and whatnot.
