I just watched a news clip on FOX NEWS re: police officer deaths by firearms for 2007.
Per the national stats, police officer deaths by firearms for 2007 are up by 54% over 2006. But hey, the good news is, we've only eleven weeks left for 2007.
The statisticians who crunch such numbers/data have labeled this new, or rising, phenomenon as the "Hunter Mentality". Perhaps a better label would be the "Predator Mentality" but the official label as of today is "Hunter Mentality".
Based upon this study; disrespect for law enforcement and the lack of fear of suffering the consequences combined with (I love this one) the availability of AK-47s has spawned this deadly trend.
Regardless of how, and/or by whom, these facts (officer deaths and assaults) are compiled and interpreted, the truth is, these assaults and murders are rising.
Watch your 6 and be prepared to use deadly force when necessary and go home at shift's end.
