Is there a way to find out if my FL certification is good anywhere else in the country? Thanks

You could try calling CJSTC. But more than likely you will have to check with whatever state you are planning to relocate. More than likely you will have to take a "mini academy" for that states laws, at a minimum.

It all depends on Department policy

More than likely it will be the same as when people from other states come to Florida. You have to have at least 1 year of full certification (meaning actual employment, not just going through the academy), and you'll have to go through a mini academy. Your best bet is to call whatever department you're interested in, tell them what you have, and ask what you need.

you need to check with each state. Some waive it, some have a mini academy, some dont accept any part of it. I came to florida from NJ and i can tell you in NJ you need to go through the entire academy in NJ regardless of what state you came from and how many years you were on the job for. They dont even recognize NJ corrections, nj corrections officers have to go through the entire LE academy. So check each individual state your interested in.

Tell me about it, njsurfer. I looked into moving back to NJ but unforunately decided not to. The hiring process is insanity and id have to repeat the full academy.
