2 Prescott Police Officers were shot as they arrived at a disturbance call last night. Both are expected to pull through despite critical injuries. Sgt. T. Fletcher was struck 4 times,in the shoulder, arm and both legs. Officer R. Klotzbach was struck once in the abdomen with the round ending up lodged in his leg.

They had apparently just arrived to back up two other Officers already on scene of a reported domestic with possible shots fired. As they attempted to exit their vehicles, the suspect opened fire with an assault rifle from a bedroom window.

The suspect subsequently died from a self inflicted gunshot wound.

If any of you are out there: excellent response by Prescott PD, Prescott Valley PD, Yavapai County SO, AZ DPS, Yavapai Tribal, Tri city STU team, Yavapai County Sheriff's Office SWAT team. Thank you to Coconino SO, Maricopa SO, and Phoenix PD for your support and offers of assistance. All dispatchers involved, you saved the day again! Can't forget Prescott Fire, Lifeline Ambulance, Yavapai Med center, and John C Lincoln trauma team.

Just another day at the office

Nothing more dangerous than a Domestic Violence call-glad the officers will recover!

Was the assault rifle legally owned? Any criminal history on the shooter? Mental?

Be careful out there!

Glad to hear that the two officers will probably make it. It's wierd to think that I was out there on a mission trip just a couple of summers ago. Did the incident happen in the City of Prescott? When I went out there with my team, some of the children we encountered told us stories of how they go home to disfunctional families every day. Tragic. Just tragic. :(
