I just got off the phone a little while ago. I was watching the ball game when a "surveyor" called to ask a "few" questions. They said it was a "marketing" survey. It started off like a marketing survey, then it subtly transitioned to political questions, and really stupid loaded questions at that. It is obvious from the loaded questions that they are trying to implant opinions into the minds of voters, get their opinion back in the form of these stupid survey questions, and then they will tailor their marketing plan (campaign) to tell these drones what they want to hear.

What's most depressing of all, is that millions of people will be duped into voting for people that they have been indoctrinated into voting for without any sense at all that they were manipulated into a certain mindset.:(

My only satisfaction comes from the likelihood that my answers will probably blow some fuses on their computer when it tries to process them.:D

Anybody else here ever get a call like this?.....This one was my first.

I've worked Republican outreach before and was absolutely shocked at the number people who were voting for candidates that they had no idea about. I've sat down with people who are 100% conservative in all their beliefs, but voted for John Kerry and Al Gore simply because they were Democrats and that's the way they've always voted. Almost none of them could identify a single position their candidate stood for. In fact, most of the time they would say that Kerry or Gore actually stood for the exact opposite position then they really did.

A classic example: We have a large refinery here. The refinery has been in the process of trying to expand for many years, but EPA regulations have made it nearly impossible. I sat down with an older gentleman who had retired from the refinery and was a staunch supporter of the expansion. He explained to me that he was voting for Al Gore because Gore was a good friend of the oil industry and wasn't one of those environmental wacko politians.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: The uneducated voter is by far the most dangerous threat to our modern democracy.

I agree with that.

And though I take flak for it, it's one reason I rarely vote. If I haven't taken the time to really educate myself on the issues, I'm not going to bother voting at all. I'd rather not vote than vote for the wrong guy. Of course, my second reason is that I never find a candidate that I full agree with because my views are so "all over the place."

Frankly, I doubt you will ever find a politician you agree with 100%. (Although, Fred comes awfully close for me. :D ). The best you can do is educate yourself on both the planks of the platform and the candidate. Find the candidate that best matches you're beliefs and vote accordingly.

I actually commend you for not voting when you haven't educated yourself. Its a responsible decision. Although, it would be more responsible to take the time to educate yourself and vote with confidence, but I'd rather see people stay home then vote just because they think they should.

I agree with you SRT. I should take the time to educate myself...but to be bluntly honest, I often simply forget because I'm so caught up in other things. Maybe that's youth speaking a little bit...I get way too caught up in the minutia of my everyday life to think about national or global issues.

If I ever meet a candidate that is pro-choice, believes in my right to have a gun as a civilian, pro-gay rights and marriage, supports the death penalty, , isn't christian, wants to bring our boys home from Iraq, wants to deport all the illegal immigrants, and wants to stop giving handouts to lazy people who don't want to work...well if that person ever exists, I'm sure I'll take the time to vote for him/her!

And all you edu-ma-cated folks...please tell me if that candidate is already in existance and I just haven't heard of them!
