I have always had an admiration for law enforcement but since I recently fail one of their test, I was put on their waitting list (pretty much I won't get hire by them)! I guess I just want to know what is a P.C. 832 course? There is another agency looking for a Department Specialist/Dentention position. I called their HR and they told me that the fastest way for me to take this class is through San Bernandino or Riverside Sheriff Department. I live in San Diego and was wondering if Palomar college or Miramar offer it too? She also said if hire they would send me through this thing called POST approved California Government Code, Title 15 training course! ANY, information you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated!

PC 832 is a very simple week long intro to California criminal law. Most JC's offer it.....i'm sure that you can find it at one of the JC's in SD. Jump on their websites yourself.

In the meantime, go take a few courses in Writing/Grammer. I don't want to sound like a jerk by any means, but you need it. You post was very hard to read through on the first try.

I completed PC832 in Feb/Mar 2007. Good class. In my cohort, we had Coroner Investigators, Arson Investigators (from Fire), Code Enforcement Officers, Auditor-Controller Investigators, Animal Control Officers, Park Rangers, DWP Security Officers, and Bounty Hunters.

The complete course is broken into two parts: 1) Arrest/Control modules - 5 days/40 hours; 2) Firearms module - 3 days/24 hours. You can take both, one, or the other. You'll likely find the course at a community college that has a police academy.

It's a condensed POST certified course in laws of arrest, search and seizure, Mirandas, investigations, and the use and care of firearms. Once you complete PC832, you'll receive a POST certificate. Looks good on a resume for police recruit...Shows you possess a basic understanding of the law, arrest procedures, and firearms.

PM me if you have any questions.

Sorry about my grammar to everybody :D but I was runing out the door for a welcome school night meeting at my son school. Just one more thing, I do have an Adm. of Justice certificate from a local community college. I am guessing that class was problaby one that I took a while back! I will check my passed classes that I have taken. Mmmm, does any body else know about the POST title 15 tranining course? Once again "Thanks"

I would not go out of your way to go attend the basic two week 832 class unless it is a pre-requisite for a job you are applying for. If you are hired you are going to get this training again in the basic police academy.

The class is the very basic minimum requirements for law enforcement training if you are going to make arrests and/or carry a firearm for many non-traditional peace officer (arson, park rangers) and quasi-peace officer (animal control, public security guards) positions in California.

Whether or not you attended this two week class does not demonstrate much to me when I look at you as a candidate. I'm looking at other things such as your reliability and your maturity as you can demonstrate through the application and interview process.

Thanks for the comment LeeRoy but the position I am looking for is "almost" as LEO but with limits. And your right, it is a prerequisite. Pay is pretty much the same too...

Palomar used to offer it, but I'm not sure if they still are or not. It is a very basic class and easy to pass. I took it about 12 years ago for a park ranger position.
