Tex, sorry to hear of such a tragedy. Do you know the circumstances of why the Sgt. took his own life? Well an Officer down is an Officer down no matter how it happens. All my blessings to his family and partners.

Regards and blessings to all Officers who have passed

I imagine the general consensus is that when an LEO takes his life it is because of the stress and tragedy he/she deals with day in and day out. But no one knows the real reason why one person does it and another does not. Nobody ever REALLY knows why anyone takes their own life. It's a safe bet that it's not so their family and friends will be left bitter, angry, and sad. Too bad that is what happens. :(

My condolences to the family and friends of Sgt. Gonzales.

No, nobody can say why anyone would take their life for sure. Stress, medical problems, family problems....all of the above. But, I know, when my son was at his sickest, my ex-daughter-in-law did what she did and my husband lost his job, I remember I just wanted the pain of it all to end. I can see where the stress and pain of everyday life, what you see, what you go through.....can just be too much for someone.
My heart goes out to the Gonzales family.

I would like to remember Juan for the good that he did and not dwell on why this happened. We all have "demons" to deal with and everyone deals with them in different ways.

It is how we lived our lives that makes the difference, not how it ended.

i think people usually want to know "why," hoping they can see signs in someone else if it comes to that, or help a person that might be close to taking their own life. it's very hard sometimes to hear someone say they wished they were dead, and not know how much they really mean it.
