I'm slated to come out for testing in October. What do you guys think of the LAPD and they're hiring process. Also, I was applying for a different agency, forgot about a pull over (no big deal but police contact none the less) and was DQ'd because they thought I was trying to hide it from them. Will LAPD get a copy of the BI that they did? And how does that process work?

..that must have been one "Serious" police contact- unles it was some kind of documentation, especially for a serious crime,i doubt LAPD would even look at that as an issue to DQ you( it must be for a record of criminal activity,or a recent crime) good luck on your expedited process- contact ken @ policebackgrounds.net- he's LAPD and a background investigator-he'll give you some pointers....

The LAPD Process for out of town applicants is very fast.
You come to LA for two days to complete several processes all in one shot.
Written Test, PAT, Preliminary Backgrounds assessment, Oral & Polygraph.
Regarding the "pull over" police contact disclose that in your personal history statement/form and you should be ok.
An excellent resource for LAPD candidates is http://policebackground.net/Forum/

Good Luck

Actually, it was a petty pull over. It was 2 and a half years ago. It was my first week on Ft Bragg and my buddy made the mistake of stopping to ask someone directions on Bragg blvd. When the 2 "females" came to the door it was obvious they were prostitutes. A cop pulled us over and we told him we were looking for directions. He kind of laughed and said not to ask for directions on Bragg blvd. Apparently Las Vegas thought I was trying to hide it from them and it was enough to DQ me.

LVMPD is one of the hardest if not "the hardest" agency to get on with.. They have their own forum out there on the web and people get DQ'd for the dumbest reasons. My recommendation would be to apply for other agencies. Analyzing your issue and comparing to other similar issues that other people reported in the LAPD forum appears your issue wouldn't necessarily be an auto DQ. Dont get me wrong, it would be analyzed so be prepared to give a good explanation and reason to the fact of what happened that day. Honestly, I think you will be fine..
