We can add anything we want, within reason. We must buy it our selves and our fleet services must do the install. When we get a new car, we our asked what we want installed. Once we get a car, it's yours for the next four years or so. We have CB's and fleet will install one if you like, personally I can not stand the things anymore.

btw, are cb's issued to troopers / traffic units? You can usually add in equipment IF the car is assigned to you only. If it's a "pool" car, then whatever you use in the car you will need to remove and take with you at the end of watch. State police/highway patrols often have issued, take-home cars, and the troops usually customize them to some degree. Smaller PDs and sheriff's offices, most of them in the South and Midwest, sometimes have take-home cars. They're pretty rare in the West. The larger the department, the more likely you will have a "pool" car.

I installed XM in my cruiser. It is a take home of course.
